I had a wonderful time with the ducks. The ducks I met were mallards. They are wild ducks.

2006. Autumn was almost over. The first frost came. There was ice on the pond at campus

Here you also can see the ice on the pond.

Here the water was frozen and the leaves were lying upon the ice.

The ducks moved to the pond by the hospital. There is a creek and streaming water and the water in the pond never will freeze.

I went to the pond by the hospital to feed the ducks.

I met a woman in a white jacket. I gave her bread so she also could feed the ducks.

Here a duck was eating out of her hand but the duck was very shy.

I fed the duck with one hand and had the camera in the other hand. Here a duck was waiting for a bit of bread.

When the bread did not come so fast the duck was impatience and was biting in my jeans :-)

Now a female duck came and wanted bread.

The male duck was not so afraid and was standing on my shoe :-)

After that the duck was biting in my jeans again and. I was laughing about the crazy duck :-)

Here several ducks tried to get bread.

Now there came a craw too ( left) and I fed the crow bread too.

Here it still looks like autumn but it was rather cold.

There was a gull sitting on the bridge railing and got some bread. The gull was not afraid for me.

After it there was a pigeon sitting on the bridge railing and the pigeon also got bread.

Here some sparrows are eating bread.

There was white frost in the grass.

This male is grandiose. The green colour on his head is gorgeous.

I had a lot of bread so they could get more of it. Here they are waiting for more :-)

Can I get a piece of bread too.

Some female ducks were following me.

It looked rather funny to see the ducks following me.

Ha, ha, ha :-)

3 ducks were in a fight.

Now the bread was eaten and the ducks returned to the water.

This looked peaceful. I felt happy and went back to work.

February 2007.
Now it was real winter and it was snowing. I went to the pond again. And met a cute duck that was sitting on the railing of the bridge.

A lot of ducks were standing there and waiting for food.

It was cloudy and snowing and that’s why these pictures are dark.

There were snowflakes on the ducks.

Now there is more ice on the pond but there is still streaming water. And the ducks get food from people.

Here are some ducks in the creek.

And other ducks in the pond are standing in the snow.

The ducks were on the bridge too. The black spots on the ground is grit so it will not be slippery on the bridge. But the cyclists and the pedestrian had to stop and carefully try to pass the bridge. And the duck did not step aside. Some people went irritated but most of them were smiling.

Even this time the ducks were following me.

A female was sitting on the railing of the bridge and she looked at me. She was so glad that I came with food. I said: "How can you ducks stand the cold? " The duck said: "If we get enough food we CAN stand the cold".
