Rödluvan and the ducks
in the early spring

Part 2,  2009

2009-04-20. I  loved it to be with the pond. Spring was slowly coming but there was still snow on some places.
2009-04-20. The female Quackely was waiting for me.
2009-04-20. And her husband, Quack-quack was waiting for me too.
2009-04-20. Now they were not sitting on the bridge raling any more. They most were on the ground. They followed me. it looked so cute :-)
2009-04-20. Things had changed. In winter the ducks were living in a big flock. Now the ducks were couples. This couple was sleeping near the water.
2009-04-20. The gulls got food. The gulls in the park were black headed gulls. They were landing in the park because the water is not open yet on other places. Later the gulls will move on.
2009-04-20. They learned to sit on the bridge for getting food. But I did not give them so much. I only fed them to get a picture. The gulls are so smart and fast and get their food easier. That's why I saved the food for the ducks.
2009-04-20. This female was rather shy and dare not to eat out of my hand.
2009-04-20. Different birds, a mallard, two gulls and a jackdaw.
2009-04-20.  This gull was screaming.
2009-04-20.  A bridge gull and a bridge duck.
2009-04-20. Yes gulls are noisy. But they are beautiful too. We also have gulls with a white head. These are common gulls. But they are not so much with people. I saw a common gull flying over.
Last year I got a picture of a flying common white headed gull. I read on a website that the seagulls also eat earthworm.
2009-04-20. This male is beautiful. I love the green colour of the head.
2009-04-20. Quack-quack and Quackely were following me again.
2009-04-20. This gull is ringed. The number on the ring is: VC03. the black headed gulls have a red beak and red legs.
2009-04-21. Two duck couples running to me who still was on the little parking lot. As I told: The duck are now always coming as couples. And many ducks couples moved from the pond.
2009-04-21. A male got some bread.
2009-04-21. Suddenly a duck was flying up to me and it sounded

"SMACK!"

And the duck run into my  chest. I was laughing and said. "Sure you will get food".

2009-04-21. This duck must have been the duck that I fed before while he was flying up. But he did not seem to have problems with his leg anymore.
2009-04-21. This picture made me laughing out loudly when I saw it. Such a beak! :-D
2009-04-21. I fed with my left hand and took the pictures with my right hand.
I walked in the park again.
2009-04-21. When I came to the park, the ducks were walking after  and the gulls flying after me :-)
2009-04-21. The gulls sounded: "Scream, scream, scream"!
2009-04-21. They could fly very well.
2009-04-21. The ducks got food. I put the food very near the ducks so not the gulls should take everything.
2009-04-21. But the gulls were smart and faster as the ducks.
2009-04-21. The flying duck came back again for food.
2009-04-21. Here the bridge gulls got some food.
2009-04-21. Now the whole gang was sitting on the bridge railing.
2009-04-21. The shy female was there too. I think she did not get a partner. Because all ducks who had a partner did not visit the bridge railing anymore. Probably because of they will not loose the partner between other ducks. On the ground the partners can watch each other better.
2009-04-21. Flap, scream, flap, scream, flap, scream!
2009-04-21. A little more food for the shy duck.
2009-04-21. Flying gull
2009-04-21. The gulls are good in flying and are like acrobats in the air.
2009-04-21. The gull at the right had a faint pink colour on it's neck. I never had seen a black headed gull like that.
2009-04-21. Quack-quack has a brother who also sounds "quack-quack" all the time. Here they are singing a song for Quackely :-)
2009-04-21. The song goes:  Quack-quack, quack-quack, quack-quack, quack-quack, quack-quack, quack-quack, quack-quack, quack-quack, quack-quack, quack-quack, quack-quack, quack-quack, quack-quack, quack-quack, quack-quack.
2009-04-21. Here they had a show in walking.
2009-04-21. After the Quack-quack concert they got food from Rödluvan.
2009-04-21. The gulls also wanted some bread.
2009-04-21. Here you can see how the gull looks. The tail looks real pretty.
2009-04-21. The gulls gave a flying show.
2009-04-22. Someone had put out food on the ground. Then all the gulls were there.
2009-04-22. A beautiful male swimming in the creek.
2009-04-22. A sleeping duck couple.
2009-04-22. Quackely and Quack-quack were following me on the slushy path.
2009-04-22. Two duck couples and one lonely duck got food.
2009-04-23. Quackely was sitting and resting. But Quack-quack was standing up and he said: "Now I will give a show with my brother".
2009-04-23. They had a real nice show.
2009-04-23. The gulls were looking interested to Quack-quack's new spring show.
2009-04-23. Here Quack-quack was telling for Quackely that the show had went on well.
2009-04-23. Two duck couples in the water.
2009-04-23.Here Quackely was singing a song.
2009-04-23. I gave her bread after the song.
2009-04-23. The jackdaw also got bread.
2009-04-23. But the jackdaw flew under the bridge railing with the bread so the ducks should not take it from him.
2009-04-23. Quack-quack and Quackely were in the water a while.
2009-04-23. Here they were on land again. Quack-quack started quacking again.
2009-04-23. Quackely was rather amused about it.
2009-04-23. Quackely asked a gull if he could sing.
2009-04-23. YES I CAN SING! SCREAM, SCREAM!!!
2009-04-23. They got some food.
2009-04-23. After that Quack- quack gave a singing concert again
2009-04-23. Here he is singing with his brother again.
2009-04-23. They were showing up so nice.
2009-04-23. Then Quack-quack said to his brother: "We need a choir to our song".
2009-04-23. They asked the gulls for help. Yes the gulls could help and be their choir.
And they were a real nice choir: They could  screech so  well:

"Scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream, scream."

I was real amused about the Quack-quack scream concert.
2009-04-23. Quack-quack and his brother went tired of singing. Quack-quack walked to the pond with Quackely.
2009-04-23. They were resting near the water.
2009-04-23. Some of the gulls still were still singing, but soon they sat down on the ground. There was still snow and there were big puddles in the park.
2009-04-23. On this picture you can see that spring is coming and the snow is melting. But the grass is still the old brown grass.
2009-04-23. The spring flood was here. There was more water in the pond and it run down in the lower creek. Here you see the second bridge and the waterfall.
2009-04-23. Now the snow was gone and you could walk over the second bridge again. A lonely duck saw me and walked after me.
2009-04-24. Now most of the duck couples were resting near the pond.
2009-04-24. Here another couple resting near the pond.
2009-04-24. A couple swimming in the pond.
2009-04-24. Some others were standing near the pond.
2009-04-24. Today Quack-quack and Quackely saw me walking over the other bridge. Then they followed me.
2009-04-24. They walked after me over the bridge.
2009-04-24. It looked real cute.
2009-04-24. After they crossed the bridge they got food from Rödluvan
2009-04-24. It tasted real good.
2009-04-24. I said farewell to the ducks. Quack-qauck and Quackely looked at me when I walked away.
2009-04-24. I had a wonderful early spring time with the ducks. But now the real spring should come and the ducks should hide and make a family.
