Rödluvan in the early spring
2008 and 2009

Me, Rödluvan taking pictures

In early spring the snow is gone. And the first flowers are coming. But it's still cold at night and chilly in day time. I still need my winter jacket with the big red hood. But in the flower shop it's always spring and summer.

2008-04-20. I found the first snowdrops on the yard.
2008-04-20. But there was still snow an ice. And piles of snow everywhere.
2008-04-20. There is much water in the park after the snow melted away.

2008-04-20. It looked ratter ugly outside now. In front dry brown grass, in the middle lilac bushes that looks like the were dead. And dirty piles of snow.

No wonder that it hurts for me when the buds burst.

2008-04-21. A mallard couple. There is still ice on the pond.
2008-04-21. The female is on land almost camouflaged. The male is flying up to her.
2008-04-21. Now the thrush have arrived.
2008-04-22. The male mallard who has a female was aggravated to another male. There was a fight in the water.
2008-04-22. Suddenly all ducks were flying away. Here they are flying high. Down below a gull.
2008-04-22. I found a willow tree with soft buds. The sun was shining and gave the water a blue colour. But the grass was still brown.
2008-04-22. I close-up picture of the soft buds.
2008-04-22. A very close-up picture of the buds.
2008-04-22. Now there were more crocus under the bushes near the house wall on the sunny side.
2008-04-23. The duck couple was sleeping. The ice  is melting, but there is still ice.
2008-04-23. Gulls in the pond
2008-04-23. This gull is beautiful!
2008-04-24. The ice on the path by the pond was gone now. The duck couple was swimming near me.  But I did not feed them. This time of the year they are only interested of each ohter.
2008-04-24. The female was diving.
2008-04-24. The gulls were making a quarrel in the pond.
2008-04-24. I saw the first tussilago by the pond.

2008-04-25. Crocus in the grass by the pond.
2008-04-25. Close-up picture of the crocus
2008-04-25. I sat down in the grass a while enjoying the crocus. Then there came bumble bee. (Bombus). Here the bee just was flying away.

Bees are called: Apoidea. But the bumble bee I saw is Bombus. They look more furry as a bee.

2008-04-25. But he was so heavy of the honey and then........
BOING !!
He dropped down on the ground. It looked so funny :-)
2008-04-26. The streets are fri from snow but still no colours. The grass is brown and the dirty piles of snow looks ugly. And the grit  in the side walks is not swept away yet.

The black silhouette near ths bus is Ove who is getting on the bus.

2008-04-26. But there are colours indoors. I bought these tulips. The name of them is Princess Irene.
2008-04-26. They are beautiful!
2008-04-27. I was a grey and cold day. The first tussilago on the yard did not want to open.
2008-04-27. But the Christmas rose is made for the cold. It can bloom when the snow is gone and the temperature is near zero.
2008-04-27. This pansy was in a pot near a house wall. It was the only one in the pot that dare to bloom.
2008-04-28. I saw the first blue anemones in the woods by work. It's not common they grow here. But a man plant them near the house there I was working. And they survived and disseminate.
2008-04-28. A close-up picture of a wood anemone.
Here you can see how tiny they are.
2008-04-28. From these flowers there will grow big plants. A man who I met at campus told about this and showed where it was. But I forget the name. He mentioned the word "pest" but not the disease pest it was a botanic name that I not could remember.
2008-04-28. I could not identify this couple of ducks. It was too far away to get good colours on the picture. Later I got a better picture and got help from friends. This birds are Goosanders. (Mergus merganser)
2008-04-28. I saw the first dandelion. But these are growing on a warm place in the sun near a wall.
2008-04-28. A couple of magpies.
2008-04-29. The duck couple was in the pond again. I hope there will be duckling later.
2008-04-29. A close-up picture of the flowers that later will be big plants with big leaves.
2008-04-29. There was a little hillside in the sun and there the scilla was in bloom. But the rest of the grass was still brown.
2008-04-29. Black-headed gulls. (Larus ridibundus)  Notice the gull at the right. That is a common gull. (Larus canus)

2008-04-29. I felt so excited there were goosanders. who never have showed up in the pond before.
2008-04-29. On my walk home I saw a couple of mallards in the park. This was probably the same couple as earlier years. I was happy to see them.
2008-04-30. I went to the flower shop again.
2008-04-30. The roses were beautiful! There are water pearls on them because the florist sprinkled them with water.
2008-04-30. I wanted to buy tulips.

At April 30 we celebrate the coming of the spring with bonfire and a men's choir who is singing spring songs.

It still hurts when the buds are bursting.
But soon the grass will be green, more flowers  will come, and there will come leaves on the trees.

2009-04-29. Tussilago near the wall of the library.
2009-04-29. I saw the first dandelion. This was early but it’s on a warm place.
2009-04-29. More dandelion.
2009-04-29. I saw a duck couple. The female recognized me and wanted to be fed.  But I had no bread with me, because I did not know that I should meet ducks in the park.
2009-04-30. On my way home I went to the flower shop again. This art planting was beautiful. But it was expensive.
2009-04-30. Now they were selling pansies for the gardens

2009-04-30. Two weeks ago I had such crocus inside in a pot. Now the were growing outside.
2009-04-30. There were blue anemones on the yard too.
2009-04-30. My beige Fjällräven jacket had been in the washing machine and was drying on the balcony.
2009-04-30. Soon my red winter jacket should hibernate.  I should change to my beige summer jacket. Here I said goodbye to the pond and all the birds in my red jacket.
But I remembered Quackely and Quack-quack and all the other duck friends.
