Rödluvan and the ducks
in the cold
Part 4
February
2009
I went to her duck friends again. But it was BITTERLY cold.
I was freezing on my hands.
2009-02-09. When I came to
the pond, it was sunny but a cold north wind was blowing.
2009-02-09. The ducks also thought
it was cold. They rather wanted to stay in the water there the
temperature is warmer as on land.
2009-02-09. The tractors had made
piles of snow. When there came more snow they were snowed over and
looked like natural mountains.
2009-02-09. When the ducks came on
land they put their legs under their feathers and were sitting on
the feathers that kept them warm.
2009-02-09. A female in the cold.
2009-02-09. The bridge duck was
there again. Now there was more snow on the bridge railing.
2009-02-09. She was hungry.
2009-02-09. Another female came to
the bridge.
2009-02-09. Arguing.
2009-02-09. A pause in the arguing.
2009-02-09. More arguing.
2009-02-09. There were ice pearls
on the feathers of the duck.
2009-02-09. They needed the food.
2009-02-09. She looks so funny :)
2009-02-09. I met a man who
also was a Red Riding Hood. He worked at the hospital before.
2009-02-09. There were piles of snow near the pond too. Later they
took away al these snow mountains with a tractor. Otherwise the
whole park should have been flooded in spring.
2009-02-09. Three females on the
bridge.
2009-02-09. The sun disappeared and
it became dusk.
2009-02-09. It became real dusk now!
2009-02-09. Icicles on the house.
2009-02-09. Only a little bit of
the pond was not frozen.
2009-02-09. I fed the ducks
from the bridge and they were VERY hungry this day. Fortunately also
other people use to feed them.
It started snowing again. I was freezing.
There was a cold north wind blowing. This picture is taken 2009-02-05.
2009-02-09. I had to go
inside to get warm. My hands were too cold. It still was snowing.
2009-02-10. This day was a sunny
day but still cold. It was beautiful with the blue light over the
park.
2009-02-10. The ducks were hungry
again.
2009-02-10. They were sitting on
the snow waiting for food.
2009-02-10. They had their legs
under the feathers again.
2009-02-10. Here the snow was
rather deep.
2009-02-10. They were beautiful.
2009-02-10. It looks she is
laughing. Ha, ha, ha :-D
2009-02-10. Still laughing.
2009-02-10. Flying ducks.
2009-02-10. Somebody came with food
and the ducks went to the outer side of the pond.
2009-02-10. Here you can see that
the head of a male is blue. This depends of how the light is coming
on the duck.
2009-02-10. Flap, flap, flap!
2009-02-10. More flap, flap. The
plies of snow made that they could not walk from the water on land.
They had to fly.
2009-02-10. The bridge duck
was looking so begging to me.
2009-02-10. Of course she got bread.
2009-02-10. This is the pond but
there is snow on the ice. The streaming water goes under the ice and
down under the second bridge.
2009-02-11. This was so peaceful.
2009-02-11. Another sunny day.
2009-02-11. The ducks came flying
to me.
2009-02-11. Soon I had them
all around me.
2009-02-11. It's
beautiful to see
them fly in the low sunlight.
2009-02-11. Here the heads of the
male ducks are green. I like the males. They are so
beautiful.
2009-02-11. Flying back to the
pond.
2009-02-11. The bridge duck was
there again.
2009-02-11. Both wanted the piece
of bread.
2009-02-11. Can we get more?
2009-02-11. They got more bread.
2009-02-11. She hardly could reach
the bread :-)
2009-02-11. The female is eating.
2009-02-11. The jackdaw also got
some bread.
2009-02-11. Under the water on this
part of the pond was thin ice. The ducks were standing on the ice.
2009-02-11. Kiss me Quack-quack :-)
2009-02-11. My hands were
so cold. I had a hand warmer. A little heart. You just snap
the metal thing inside the gel and somehow that sets off a chemical
reaction.
2009-02-11. Then you get this very
warm pack for awhile. The heart is now hard. You can warm your hands
on it. Later at home you need to boil the heart a while and then it
becomes soft again and you can use it again.
