2007-07-22. It was Midsummer Eve. I was went on a trip to Norrbyskär. En island in the sea. |
|
It's colder with the see. At Norrbyskar the lilacs were in bloom later. And then I could enjoy them one more time this year.
We went by car to Norrbyskär. Here we were at the E4.
Later Ove had to drive on a little road in the woods.
We went to Norrbyskär by this boat named M/S NORRBYSKÄR.
Me on the boat. | |

Here you can see the hotel at Norrbyskär from the water.

Our room. | |
Our room with timber walls.
Our room. The white wall was before an open fireplace but they took this away.
There was a ship in a bottle in our room.
There was a fun on the ceiling. But the cord was to short so we could not activate it. Fortunately is was not hot in the room.
The X is the window of our room.
After we put our luggage in the room we started walking. Ove is going there.
The island is a group of islands connected with sandbanks. Picture taken from the sandbank.
Here it was shallow and the water was painted in green because of the trees.
In former times there lived workers, who worked for a big sawmill, in the houses. Now the old houses are summer houses.
Me walking by the summer houses in a big lane. On this side of the island the houses were made of wood and painted in white.
A picture of a wooden houses. Me walking there ;)
A flowerpot with one of the houses.
There were a lot of lilacs with the houses. Me by white lilacs.
A close-up picture of a white lilac. You almost can feel the wonderful smell.
Me by the purple lilacs.
These flowers are called "Midsommarblomster" That means Midsummer flower. I found this name in English: Crane's-bill.
Here a close-up picture of a midsommarblomster. The name in latin is: Geranium sylvaticum.
This is also Crane's-bill. But in the sun the colour of the flower is pink and in the shadow it's blue.
There were a lot of Crane's-bill. on the island. Here they are in the sunlight and looks lilac coloured.
A wonderful yellow wild flower.
Chickweed wintergreen. Trientalis europaea.
Rowan in bloom. | |
This flower is very tiny. One of the people who lives on the island told me it is Veronica. the Latin name: Veronica arvensis.
These flowers are growin grow very near the sea.
The bay and wonderful flowers.
Me in the woods on the island.
A pasture with a lot of trees and sheep.
More sheep. The were curious. You can see the houses in the background.
Me on the path in the fields that goes to the sea.

This house is an old skittle alley.
Inside the skittle alley house. You may not play there. It's only a museum.
There is a museum on the island. There we could read the history of the sawmill and the people who lived here. The also had a model if the island. Here a model of the hotel there we lived.
