Rödluvan painting the kitchen
2007

We should get the kitchen painted and also a room wallpaper hanged. Here I'm is in the paint shop to choose colours and wallpaper. Now I will tell about this.
I said to Ove: "What do you think about this wallpaper?"
A near picture of the pattern. Small red roses.
Ove said."I like it. and we decided for it. The door in the kitchen should be white, (NOT snow white) and the wall rather light green.
But first we should celebrate Christmas. The painters should come in January. We found this Santa in a shop near the paint shop.
Now it was January and the painters came. It was a mess in our home. But fortunately we was invited to look at the stars at an observatory and drink coffee and have a nice evening there with friends. It was bitterly cold that evening. -23°C.
Before the painters came we had to remove everything from the kitchen and the little bedroom.
The empty little bedroom with the worn out wallpaper.
The furniture of the little room in the living room.
What a mess.
And here were the utilities from the kitchen drawers. The dish washer was standing on the ground.
The painters took up the things in the elevator and put it in the stairwell.
Later they took it in into our apartment.
The painter was put paper on the ground in our hall.
And they put all the things in the hall.
They took off the kitchen door and put it in the hall (right) And took down the cabinet doors of the new cabinets that did not be need to be paint.
Some clothes of the painters.
The wallpaper and the wallpaper table at the left. The dishwasher at the right.
They did putty in the little room.
More putty in the little room.
This is a radio the painters had with them. I wonder how there still could come some sound out it if  LOL :-)
This is the treasure chest of the painters. Locked with a padlock. There were tools in it that can be dangerous for children. That's why it had to be locked.
Here the painter is painting in the kitchen.
Now we got the kitchen primed. The doors are in a workshop they will be spray painted.
It looks strange that the doors in the cabinet are gone. I should not have energy to take out all the things. And we had no place to put the things somewhere. But these cabinets already needed to be cleaned. And I cleaned then after the work was ready.
The sink unit and cabinets.
Now the light green paint was on the walls.
They first put woven fabric on the wall. After it they painted on it. The  pattern in the paint is like this.
The kitchen was ready painted and the curtains were up again. But there still was a lot of work for us to do. Here we got back the doors to the cabinets. At the right beside the pantry you can see the big doors standing against the wall. The small doors are at the left.
And now Ove had to put back all these doors.
And put the knobs back on the doors and drawers. The new painted drawers are still without a knob.
Here a box with the knobs and a box with the things to lock the doors.
This is the old wallpaper in the little room.
This is the new wallpaper in the little room
This is the little room before.
This is the little room now
The kitchen before.
The kitchen now.
The kitchen before.
The kitchen now.
The kitchen before with an old lamp over the stove.
The kitchen now with a new lamp over the stove.
The kitchen before.
The kitchen now.
Now i had to clean every shelf in the cabinets. This took time. I will show some of the things I have in the cabinets.
There is something special with the mortar made of wood. I got it from a teacher because I helped him very much with his computer at work. His computer was destroyed by thunder. I worked in several days to help him reinstall his hard drive. Then he gave me this mortar.
This is also very special. This cowbell has been on a cow in Norway. It's very old and rusty. We visit a farmer family there for many years ago and then I got this bell.
Ove bought this cake tin for me for many years ago. Because he know that I like cats.
I bought this cat mug myself.
I don't know where I got this cake tin. But I like it because of the horse on it.
I got this cookies server from my son, Lennart. He made it in handicraft at school. It is very well done.
He burned this text on the backside. It says. Happy "birthday mamma". VT means "Vår termin" = Spring semester.
Ove got this old coffee kettle from his grandmother.
I found the white quartz stone in Norway. I found the two dark stones near the water power station that is near our town.  I made the two dishes myself in a ceramic course.
I found these stones in the Swedish mountains. But not the pink stone. I got the pink stone from a friend who was abroad.
I cleaned Ove's drawers with his tools.
Here I'm sitting in a blue hooded T-shirt. I am painting a holder for the household paper.
Now it's painted.
This is a bit of wood that will keep a holder for a trash bag. I painted it.
Ove screwed the holder on the bit of wood.
Now the wooden bit with the holder is screwed on the door under the sink.
And now the trash bag is in it and we can use it.
My iron board was broken. Ove bought a new one for me.
Here I'm ironing in my soft hooded cardigan
Now I could cook in my new kitchen. This time I have a yellow T-shirt and my batik apron. Ove's sister made the apron for me.
Here I made two quiche with cheese, ham and leak.
And I made a dish with renskav = thin slices of reindeer meat. At the right, cut potatoes.
I made potatoes in white sauce (in the brown cast iron pot. In the stainless steel pan there is Brussels sprouts, in the stainless steel dish there is fried bacon. In the white dish there are peas. On the big flat dish there is fried onion and fried thin slices of reindeer meat. On the little dish there are small tomatoes.
Now I wear a yellow hooded cardigan will eat the food. Yummie!
