Our Christmas tree,  2006
At December 13 we celebrate Lucia. A woman  is dressed as Lucia in white clothes with a red silk ribbon round her waist, and a crown with candle lights in her hair. Lucia does not come alone. She has maidens with her. They are also dressed in white and they have tinsel in their hair. There are boys who are dressed in white with high pointed white hats with stars on them. These boys are called for "star boys." The star boys are carrying a star on e pin in their hands. In the Lucia procession there are also people dressed as Santa Claus and as gingerbread cookies. In the homes Lucia and her attendants come to the people with a tray coffee and cakes on it.
In the homes Lucia and her attendants come to the people with a tray coffee and cakes on it. The cookies we have are "lussekatter" baked with saffron. And gingerbread cookies.
We are drinking hot glögg to the cookies. We both do this at Lucia and Christmas. Glögg is  mulled wine. but you also can drink this without alcohol. There are all kind of spices in it. And this will warm you in the cold. We keep the glögg warm on a tea ligth that is inside a kind of  holder made of glass of ceramics.
At Christmas you can bake a gingerbread house. But often you buy the walls and roof ready and build the house of the parts in the package and after it you decorate it with icing sugar and candies.
Every year there is a Christmas market at the open air museum. I use to go there because I like to take a sleigh ride.  It is the horse Helge drawing the one horse open sleigh. (I'm not on the picture)

Decorations in the tree. I use to have shiny red balls in the tree.

Decorations in the tree. 2005
Decorations in the tree. I have this angel in the tree every year.
And I have a star in the tree. The top of our tree is very soft and that's why the star often is oblique-angled. 2005
Decorations in the tree. I also had some gold balls. 2005
Before we had a real tree. But this was a lot of work with all these needles. And you could not take in it too early. For some years ago we bought an artificial tree. That looked like this when it came.
Ove was unpacking the tree and build it.
The  stand for the tree was difficult to build. And after Ove build it we never take it apart anymore. But we taka apart the tree after every Christmas so it can be stored in the box again.
Now the tree is build and we put in the lights and the decoration. this Picture taken 2005.

This is a typical Swedish candle named Änglaspel.  I can't find a word in English for this thing. You light the candle and then the angels begin to run around because of the heath of the flames. There are pins under the angels that hit the small round plates. And then it will sound: "Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding".
