Hiking

On this picture I was 30 years old. The clothes I wore are windproof and are also protecting against mosquitoes.

In our town they have orienteering in the woods every year. But this is not a common competition. It will last the whole summer. You don’t need to run. You can walk if you like it. There are 100 control signs in the woods near the town. You get a map of the woods there the controls are. And then you go out and try to find them. You write down the check code. After the summer you send the list of the controls you found to the sport club. You don’t need to find all the controls. The reason of this orienteering is to come out in nature and exercise and have fun.

Ove and I went out a whole day and had food or coffee with us. We took pauses and cooked our lunch on a spirit stove.

Sometimes when we were tired we lied down and slept in the woods for a while. And continued orienteering when we were fit again. Once when I awoke in the wood there was a hare rather near us. There are bears in the woods in Sweden but they are seldom in the woods near the towns. But it can happen there is a bear near the town. But they are afraid for people and will not bother you.

We were orienteering most for to enjoy nature and have fun. We saw a lot of birds and all kind of wild flowers. And we learned a lot about nature.

Our tent is a speciel lightweight tent. It is low and can stand storm. And it protects you against mosquitoes. Here I am walking in the Swedish mountains. I am standing with a creek There are no bridges everywhere. You have to wade across the creek.
In autumn we hiked by the Vindel river in the mountains. Here I'm standing by the river Here Ove is standing by the river. Here the water in the river is clean and you can drink it
