Foxy to the sea
part 8

Trip on the boat Eckerö
 2008-08-09

Me on the boat Eckerö. Then it was windy and the boat was rocking. The sea was a little rough. There were dramatic clouds in the sky. But I was out in this weather too and enjoyed the sea :-)
It's difficult to get a picture of the boat, you need to go through a long gateway to the boat. Our bus also went on that boat.

This boat trip is only two hours. Our bus drove to the island Eckerö in Åland. There is the harbour to the Eckerö Line boat. It goes to Grisslehamn in Sweden. We took the early trip and had breakfast on the boat.

We got a good breakfast on the boat with sandwiches, cheese, slices of ham, egg, filmilk, juice, coffee and tea. But you also could take some hot dishes like I have on my plate. Prince sausages, scrambled egg and bacon and a little  Russian pasty. The little heart is a pancake.

This time it was windy and there were waves on the sea And dramatic clouds. But after the breakfast I was out on deck the whole time. Enjoying the sea.

Ove looking at the sea. This trip was in the open sea.

It was fascinating how the weather, the clouds and the colour of the sea changed. Here some different pictures of the sea.

I was stunned!

It was windy and there were waves on the sea that made the boat rocking. That's why the horizon in the picture is leaning.

.
The boat made a funny patter in the water

Ove taking pictures.

Now the sea almost was black.

Leaning horizon again, you can see some bigger waves on this picture.

Me on deck. There were no people on deck. All kept inside because of the wind.  And there were not so many people on the early trip.

The Åland flag. Åland belongs to Finland but they have a government of their own and a flag of their own.

A big boat in the distance.

Ove and the silver sea in the background.

It was windy on deck and my hood was blowing up.

The silver glistening sea again.

This was gorgeous to see.
Another dramatic view but this was also gorgeous.
I was stunned again..

Such a feeling to look out over the enchanting sea.

The weather became better when we came near the Swedish coast. I needed to hold on the railing because here the boat was rocking harder.

Ove on deck.

A wonderful blue sea.

Leaning horizon again. The boat was still rocking.
More waves.

Inside the boat.

Now we saw land.

The sea was calmer near land.

The sea in silver and blue.

We came to the archipelago.

The archipelago and the open sea.

But this was only a little archipelago and most open sea.

Me on deck  in the archipelago..

Archipelago and open sea.
The archipelago.
The archipelago.
Ove on deck in the archipelago.

On deck.

The harbour in Grisslehamn.

Now the boat is in the harbour.

You still can see the open sea from the harbour.

The gate is coming.

Cottages in Grisslehamn taken from the boat.

Oves picture of Eckerö. It was difficult to get a picture of the boat. this is taken from the corridor there we left the boat.
My picture of Eckerö.
I will remember this trip. It windy, but real exciting to experience. But you need a wind proof Fjällräven jacket on the sea.  Just look at that hood:  FLAP !  WHOOPS !  :-)
