Christmas in the Swedish church

In Sweden people go to church early at Christmas Day. This Christmas service is called "Julotta". That means: Early service on Christmas Day. In the former times people were riding to church with the horse and carriage. But nowadays there are no horses.

They light the candles in the church and they have a Christmas tree too. The pastor read the Gospel according to Luke and we sing Christmas carols. We also sing Silent Night in Swedish.

I belong to The Lutheran State Church of Sweden. This is the dominating church in Sweden. We also have a Baptist Church and The Pentecostal Church and some more Free Churches.

My favorite Christmas verse is:
Luke 2:8 - 11

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flock at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them: ”Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be of all the people. today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
