Crocheted Golden Montana Nymphs
Above there are 8 examples of flies suitable for Salmon, Brown trout, Sea trout and Grayling (you have to reload this page if you wish to see them all ... f ex the very Crocheted Golden red Salmon Montana Nymph ;-) Ingredients (the scanned flies above) Hook : Usually I bent standard Mustad Salmon hooks 80500BL slightly for the nymph purpose. In the examples above I have also found and bent other Salmon hooks #8, #10 and #12. If you not wish to bend hooks you can use Mustad 80050BR, 80000BR, 80400 or 9672. You can also use the Partridge GRS 12ST, Partridge Bartleet CS10/1, Partridge Oliver Edward K14ST .... or similar. Hook size : #4-16 Weight : not lead, use instead brass wire (optional) Thread : black Tail : black fox hair or black trout zonker Lower part of the body : wind with a bunch of 5-10 flashabou gold tinsel strands on top of body created of fitting material (dubbing, antron yarn or whatever) Body : crocheted clear/transparent fishing line, diameter 0.35/0.014. Begin with a single knot and then start the crocheting towards the hook eye and stop for the thorax Thorax : black UV dubbing Ribbing/legs : black short hackle palmered over thorax Wingcase : strands of gold flashabou or gold lureflash.
